Report : Blyton Drift Day

Communities, thats what makes our lovely diverse car culture. Picking up glossy car magazines only scratches the surface of the broad array of '' scenes '' there is to offer a car enthusiast but as a general rule its only the ' show cars ' that make the headlines but not today, a million miles away from the smell of polish, wax and car shampoo we enter the world of drifting. Drifting is more about the go than the show, not saying these cars arn't looked after but they choose function over anything else.

Okay, we know what your thinking, drifting is nothing new but over the last 3-4 years the ' drift scene ' is fast becoming one of the most popular and dare we say it, fashionable to be seen in. The amount of young drifters is on the increase & what better than to put on a drift day , practice your skills and all in a safe environment and not out on the streets.

Preparing for a big drift day
Entering a sunny but brisk Blyton test track it was unclear as to what the day would hold but within a few minutes it was clear to see this was going to be a great day, with trailers and cars arriving by the shed load.

Cars where being unloaded from trailers, wheels and tyres everywhere all in the pursuit for the perfect drift and eager to get their fix of sideways action. Here at FNM HQ we only know a few people within the drifting community but fortunately we met up with Pete from Posty Cruise & the awesome Jo Fletcher and within minutes felt at home.

The whole day was organised by Simon, also known as ' sideways si ' who some may know from his pink Nissan Skyline r33 which was in the Drift Championships last year. The event was organised brilliantly with toilets, cafe, tyre fitter, marshals and of course a series of top drifters.

As always we have to stop waffling and let you enjoy some of our photos from the day which leaves us only to thanks simon, jo, pete and the rest of the drifting community a huge thanks for having us and making us feel welcome.
